Plant Overview
Size: Grows 4 to 6 feet tall and wide. It sends up massive flower spikes that reach 12 to 15 feet high in the spring and summer.
Leaves: Stiff, broad, lime-green strap-like leaves feature coarse, peeling white stringy fibers along the edges.
Flowers: Creamy white or greenish-white bell-shaped blossoms open at night and attract bats and hummingbirds.
Growing Conditions
Light: Thrives in full sun or hot, reflected heat near south-facing walls.
Soil: Requires fast-draining, rocky, or sandy soil.
Water: Highly drought-tolerant. Water it well during its first year, then reduce watering to very low levels once the roots are established.
Hardiness: Cold-hardy down to 0°F to -10°F (USDA zones 6 through 11).
