The Desert Willow tree is known for its attractive, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom in shades of pink, purple, white, or lavender, and its ability to thrive in arid conditions with minimal water needs; despite its name, it is not a true willow but is often found growing near desert washes and streams, with long, narrow leaves resembling willow foliage.
Appearance: Grows as a small tree or shrub with multiple trunks, reaching heights of 15-30 feet.
Flowers: Showy, funnel-shaped flowers with a sweet fragrance, blooming in clusters at the ends of branches, typically from late spring to early fall.
Sunlight preference: Full sun
Soil type: Prefers well-drained, sandy soil
Hardiness: Zones 6-10
Watering: Consistent moisture is vital, especially during the growing season. Deep watering at the root zone encourages vigorous growth and a bountiful harvest. We recommend a minimum 2 gallons of water every single day for the first 3-4 months. During the Summer trees need to be water early in the morning and in the afternoon, twice a day!
