#32610 - Black Neon Tetra - Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi

Add a beautiful and elegant schooling fish to your freshwater aquarium with our Black Neon Tetras. Known for their striking black horizontal stripes, shimmering silver-white markings, and peaceful personalities, these attractive fish make a wonderful addition to planted aquariums and community tanks.

Native to South America, Black Neon Tetras are small, active fish that naturally inhabit slow-moving streams and shaded waterways. Their distinctive black stripe runs along the length of their body beneath a bright, iridescent white to greenish-gold stripe, creating a beautiful contrast. Despite their name, Black Neon Tetras are a separate species from the traditional Neon Tetra.

Black Neon Tetras are social schooling fish that thrive when kept in groups of six or more, preferably eight to ten. Their peaceful temperament makes them excellent companions for other small, non-aggressive fish, such as Corydoras, Rasboras, Guppies, and other compatible Tetras.

These fish do best in mature, well-established aquariums with stable water conditions, gentle to moderate filtration, live plants, driftwood, and plenty of open swimming space. Their beautiful markings stand out especially well against darker substrates and lush green aquarium plants.

Black Neon Tetras are omnivores and enjoy a varied diet of high-quality tropical flakes, micro pellets, frozen daphnia, brine shrimp, and other appropriately sized aquarium foods. A balanced diet helps support healthy growth, vibrant coloration, and overall well-being.
