The Mexican Bird of Paradise is an upright woody shrub with flowers ranging in color (red, orange, yellow) throughout the year. They can reach up to 10 feet tall, so pruning recommended to keep a tighter foliage shape. Caesalpinia is drought tolerant and will adapt to many soils, but does best with regular water. It can be used as a bright colorful screening plant along a property line or as a single specimen. Plant in full sun. Attracts hummingbirds. Native to the British West Indies, but also naturalized through many parts of Texas and Sonoran Desert. Can potentially attract White Fly. USDA Zone: 8-11.
